Want tips from a Pro?

A friend of mine has a stream at twitch.tv for World of Warcraft. Even if you’re just a casual gamer and just want to know information about new raids or upcoming patches, this is the guy you want to talk to. His character is known as Brotatoe and he’s guild master of “GOOGLE ME.” His character is a hunter and he plays on the khadgar server; alliance side and which i’m also a part of. Our guild is in the top 10 on the server and they raid every week. Check out Brotatoe’s Stream here!

Favorite Class: Witch Doctor

Earlier in the life of this blog i had talked about all the classes listed in diablo 3. Wanted to point out that the Witch Doctor is probably my favorite class. The reason for this is because back when i played Diablo 3, one of my favorite characters to play was the necromancer. Not just any necro, but a summoner necromancer. All i had to do was summon my army and nothing stood in my way.

7 Deadly Sins

Saw another post on the forums pertaining to the chapters or acts that will divide the campaign of diablo 3 up.  This is just an observation the person made,, but reading it made sense to me. In one of the Diablo 3 videos, a group is fighting this monster known as the “thousand pounder” But his real name is gluttony incarnate. For the ones who don’t know, the 7 deadly sins are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. Now if i did my homework right, in the book “Dante’s InfernoHell is divided into several levels. Each of those levels are of course the 7 deadly sins. Just thought i’d share this information

Recent Rumors: Possible Spoiler

Was reading through the forums and some people were talking about the storyline. I read somewhere that after Baal was killed and his spirit left his body that it supposidly possessed Tyrael. After he destroyed the Worldstone Keep, he went missing and hasn’t been seen since. And then they talk about him destroying the heavens or something. I’ m not that savy when it comes to the lore but does anyone know anything about this?

Monthly Subscriptions?

Many of today’s games usually come at a hefty price. If you were to play a game through Xbox Live, you would have to have a subscription with them. Plus you have to pay for the game which usually runs about 60 bucks and additional content that will probably be released over the course of the next couple of months. It can actually get pretty expensive.Same thing goes for playing PC games. You buy the game which might require some subscriptions as well. Many people don’t like the fact of havin to buy additional stuff just to play a game they have already payed for. On the other side, you can argue that it’s good to have a pay to play feature. Xbox live needs money to help keep their business and servers up. Same thing can be said for an online game on the computer. Role playing games usually have servers in which large numbers of people can pay on all at once. To have these servers up 24/7 cost a grest deal of money. That’s just one thing that costs them money. Some people think with all the money they make from selling the game and such, they should have more than enough to allow online for free. What do you all think about companies that have games that have been round for a while like Blizzard. Should companies make you pay to play? If so, should the cost be reduced? The average online MMORPG costs about 12-15 bucks a month.

What DarkSporeBlog will be about

Before Darkspore comes out, i wanted to let everyone to know what it’s going to be about. If you managd to stumble upon my… i mean that youtube channel you will notice a few character editing videos along with some gameplay and cutscene videos. When it officially comes out i will probably be making a few montages, reviews, and maybe some tutorial as well.

Games to play while waiting for Diablo 3

A while back i talked about how Torchlight did well when it went to console here. Torchlight is almost exactly like Diablo 3 except for it doesn’t have multiplayer. Although, when Torchlight 2 comes out there will be. It’s made by some of the old developers from Blizzard North. There are a million items you can gather and you can explore countless numbers of dungeons.  Darkspore is another MMORPG that i would highly recommend. If you have ever played the game Spore, think of how you can make monsters and throw in a little hack and slash and that’s Darkspore. Darkspore comes out the 26th of April and i will be trying to make a blog about it here. Obviously if you click on it its going to take you to a BLAH page. I’ll update it as soon as it comes out. I have tons of beta footage recorded and i didn’t want to get in trouble showing it. But there’s a youtube channel that coincidently has my webpage as a username. You can check that out here 😉

Most Anticipated Game of The Year?

Along with Diablo 3 being  in development for several years. There has been a rumor going around the web that Blizzard plans on releasing the game towards the end of the year. If this is true would you say that this could be the most anticipated game of the year? If not, then what game do you think would be considered that?

PC to Console…

Not too long ago, G4 had a posted some facts about an interview with the CEO of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime. Click here to read the article

To sum it up, they talked about how well Torchlight did when it was sent over to the console. They wanted  to have the option of making the game more accessible to people. And in my opinion, that also grants them more income. Personally i believe that this game should belong to only PC.  Blizzard loves money, just look at how World of Warcraft works. There are plenty of games out there for consoles, let us PC gamers have ours. To be a PC gamers, is to be part of a dying breed. People have to spend lots of money upgrading their computers to keep up with today’s hottest games. What do you think?

The Interview

Since I’m require to have a interview pertaining to the site. I picked a fellow gamer of mine to ask a few questions about diablo 3. Enjoy!

Also, this video isn’t of best editing. I hate macs and i suck using them.

Auto Stats…Less Freedom?

Quite some time ago Bashiok (who is a forum admin) talked about how stat points are distributed. For the newcomers, stat points are what is used every time you gain a level to help customize your class you are playing. Back in Diablo 2, you gained so many stat points every time you leveled and you could put them in 4 different stats. Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, and Energy. When you put these points in you were basically stuck with them. Havn’t played diablo 2 for quite some time but i think they implented a 1 time stat reset. In Diablo 3, when you gain a level your stats are increased automatically. I’ve heared alot of people complaining about how that will ruin the customizability and freedom but if you really think about it, it won’t. Like Bashiok was saying if you level yourself up as say a fire sorceress and you’re near the end of the game and a melee based sorceress piece drops, you can just pick it up and go. As for the skill points, i’m going to take a wild guess and say their going to let us reset them as we need with of course paying some gold or something else to do it. What do you all think about the auto stat feature?

Diablo 3 Class: Demon Hunter

The final class announced was the Demon Hunter. We’ll call it DH for short. The DH can easily be compared to world of warcraft’s hunter mixed with a rouge, but darker and more twisted. Their able to use archery attacks at a distance and then utilize close range attacks quick and accurately. The Diablo 3 site has a better explanation and you can view some of their attacks on there. But in this case, here’s some gameplay footage.

Diablo 3 Class: Monk

Next on the list is the monk. They specialize in the art fighting. Think of Chuck Norris, only bald and less fearful.

Diablo 3 Class: Wizard

If you’ve ever played diablo, you’d know that this class would never miss a sequal. Using magic, the wizard obliterates his enemies using the forces of nature we’ve come to know so well.  Wizards don’t rely on heavy armor to protect them. They can use their magic to shield and aid them. Want proof? Check it out.

Diablo 3 Class: Witch Doctor

One of the next classes announced was the Witch Doctor. This old geezer specializes using evil minions to tear apart his victims and curses and poisons to torture them in the process. This guy is pretty much like a necromancer.. on steriods. The Witch Doctor can steal souls from his victims and use them against his enemies as a force to be reckoned with.

Diablo 3 Class: Barbarian

One of the first classes every announced was the Barbarian. Think of a barbarian as a giant piece of meat.. with weapon. These guys can take the most damage and deal straight up melee to their victims. There are 5 different classes and each will be posted in due time.

Are video games bad for kids?

Recently I had heard that fox news was shooting down video games. Bulletstorm was their target this time. They were calling this one of the most violent video games that will ever be released. Sure it’s bloody and you score points for killing people in creative ways, but it doesn’t have the power to control people. Ignorent people have blamed video games for  rapes, shooting, robberies and murder. What they actually don’t know is when a child is involved in a violent crime it is usally because the child is mentally unstable. Every child plays video games but you don’t see them reaking havoc do you?

Heres some facts you probably don’t know about the possive effects on kids:

-Helps them follow instructions

-Allows them to solve problems and use logic in many situations

-Improves the childs hand eye coordination and motor skills

What we probably see in this day and age is children playing shooting games. Even though their violent, they do help them improve their hand eye coordination drastically. When a player is trying to take down another player. You have to estimate the distance between you and him and try to outmanuver and outgun the other player. This can be done by simply shooting or using other means too.  This increases the childs awareness and judgement. There are plenty of articles about this issue. Do you think video games are bad?

A Little Variety Never Hurt..

Being that this blog is about one game. Thought i’d give ya’ll a site that reviews other kinds of games too. It’s called That Video Game Blog. Covers many of this years most anticipated games. Bulletstorm… Dragon Age… Killzone… You name it. Check it out!

Do Graphics Really Matter?

There’s been alot of debate whether graphics really matter. Some people looking forward to Diablo 3 noticed that the graphics wern’t “rich” Some even say that the way it looks now makes it look more colorful and not as dark as the series used to be. In my opinion, i think the color change works perfect with it. The game is supposed to take place 20 years into the future. Everything that was destroyed was pretty much built and regrown. I also think the reason the older games looked darker was because the lack of technology the time it was developed. As far as graphic mattering, they don’t. When it comes to a computer game, you have to think about how the game will run on the computer. No one is going to want a game that’s going to require a 2gb video card just to be able to run with the settings on low. There has been many successful games that have pulled it off. Such as Minecraft, which is a free roam lego styled game. A true gamer doesn’t look at the graphics and pays attention to the gameplay and the storyline.

Release Date

There has been alot debate over the number of years to when will the game be released. Blizzard mentioned about a year or so ago about how the release dates may go. Starcraft 2 was to be the first thing, then World of warcraft’s expansion, Cataclysm. After cataclysm came out, it became obvious. Blizzard currentlly doesn’t have any new games coming out anytime soon aside from Diablo and their secret MMO in development. But no one knows anything about it yet. So it’s only logical that Diablo 3 will be released probably around the third quarter of this year. It was also noted that a beta test will probably take place 6 months before the release date. But that’s probably just a rumor.

A Tale of Demons Part III

Here is the final chapter playing up to the current events that will be happening in Diablo III. Taken from The Diablo Wiki itself. Also updated the video’s section for Diablo, go check it out. The Diablo 3 Cinematic is probably my favorite out of all of them so far. Enjoy!!

Twenty years have passed since the destruction of the Worldstone. The world of Sanctuary was prepared for an invasion from the Burning Hells. However, the invasion never happened, prompting Deckard Cain to seek information as to why

Much of the story will be based around the Archangel Tyrael.[1] Archangel Imperius is speculated to be present as well. It has been confirmed that at least one of the two remaining Lesser EvilsAzmodan and Belial, is behind the failed invasion of Sanctuary. That being said however, Diablo‘s return has been confirmed, despite his earlier death

A Tale of Demons Part II

Hello Hello. This is the second part to the story for diablo. This takes place obviously right after the ending of Diablo I. And so begins Diablo II. This was also taken from The Diablo Wiki

The story continues where Diablo I ended. Two of theThree Prime Evils, Mephisto and Diablo, have been defeated and their Soulstones have been destroyed, preventing their return. However, the narrator Marius was tricked into surrendering the last Soulstone to a falseArchangel Tyrael which was revealed to be Baal, the third brother and the very last remaining Prime Evil. Marius was subsequently murdered.

Baal is leading an invasion against the northern barbarian lands. His first attack, against the city of Sescheron, capital city of the Barbarian homelands, leads to the stage where Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is set: Harrogath. Situated at the base of Mount Arreat, it is home to the humans who are sworn protectors of the mountain. Baal is currently besieging the city and destroying any settlements along the way towards the mountain’s summit.

Baal, the Lord of Destruction, is seeking the Worldstone, a massive crystal rock of great energies, built to prevent the High Heavens and Burning Hells from consuming the mortal realm completely into their respective folds. It is the source of all the Soulstones and their powers, so Baal wishes to obtain it, corrupt it and complete his brothers’ plan to conquer the mortal realm and use it as a staging area to besiege the Heavens in the endless war between the two.

Beginners meet links, links meet Beginners.

Before the real fun begins. I would like to show you their site. This may provide some useful information pertaining to the company and their games.

Blizzard’s Official Site– This is their site that covers all of  their games

Their 3 main games are:

1) World of Warcraft– Is a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) that consists of millions of players. It is the most played online game off all time and still is today.

2) Starcraft– Is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) Which means you control a vast army of soldiers and command them to advance to the enemy territory to conquer it. The setting for this game is in the future and tests the players strategic mind.

3)  Diablo– Is a Action MMORPG. Which means you play as looking at a character you control at from an angle in the sky. You use what people call Hack and Slash tactics to plan through the game. Hack and Slash is pretty much like someone clicking away at a monster using a combination of mouse clicks and keboard buttons.

Welcome To Diablo For Dummies!

I would like to start my first post with a little introduction about what Diablo is. Even though diablo obivously stands for “devil” in spanish, the reason why this game is called that is because through out the games (out of 2, with one in production) you play as a hero in pursuit of this demon. Clearly you don’t take him out the first time and there’s a whole story behind that. As i continue to work on this blog i’ll maybe make a page explaining the whole background to this franchise. I plan on pretty much breaking this game down and explaining the mechanics. I post tips, guides, videos and many more about pretty much everything you can think of when it comes to this game.
